FRANCE WINS, BOTTEGA LOUSER
Apparently France’s big victory over Croatia at the World Cup yesterday was a big loss for the staff over at the Bottega Louie commissary.
According to numerous sources, the commissary, located on 617 West 7th Street, which houses its pastry and bread departments, was void of any supervision for several hours on Sunday morning when its management team, including an Executive Chef, were at a bar watching the World Cup; leaving its staff to fare on their own.
Several claims from those close to the situation allege the following:
- One chef, a chocolatier who manages the pastry department, came to the commissary for an hour, left around 7 am—before the game started—and returned after 10 am inebriated along with an employee from his department.
- The Executive Chef, who also serves as General Manager of the commissary, showed up within minutes after; looking flushed and stammering.
- Both chefs were sporting French flags on their faces.
Another source claimed that when one of the chefs was asked by a staff member if he was drunk, “he just laughed.”
A further looksee throughout social media today brought me to the tweet pictured above. Now, I’m not certain if the missive is in any direct correlation to this story, but I do find the timestamp of the post very hard not to press.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
